Should You Go All In – And Quit Your 9 to 5?
Should You Go All In – And Quit Your 9 to 5??
Your 9 to 5 job? Should you just leave? Just go all in and quit your 9 to 5 and just see what happens.
Get it into your head that today is your last day at that job?
You just don’t turn up tomorrow and stay in bed?
NO NO NO – don’t do that. You’re asking for trouble.
Make A Plan Before Quitting Your 9to 5
If you have a 9 to 5 job and want to quit but need the money you get to survive, don’t just be spontaneous and quit tomorrow.
It took me around 2 years to finally be able to quit my job as an electrician.
I had to aim towards it before actually quitting.
How I managed to quit my 9 to 5 job is all detailed online. You can find all the steps I took on the podcast Break The Chains.
The reason I was able to quit my job was when I earnt over double online in one day then I ever did being an electrician for 20 years.
That was enough for me to say I’m going to do it and go full time online.
Alternative Opportunity’s When Quitting Your 9 to 5.
I saw the opportunity to make more money online then I made fixing peoples wiring with:
- Less stress
- Bigger customer audience
- All done from home
I may have got a little excited and expected to be making millions of pounds in a matter of weeks once I went full time.
This of course didn’t happen.
Although I have a clear plan of how I’m going to get there.
Its just going to take longer than anticipated.
Taking A Risk
All entrepreneurs take a little gamble now and again. It making it work out for you that matters and not giving up half way through.
The more I look back now where I worked my 9 to 5 job and why I took that gamble – it makes so much sense to me.
The huge amount of money I had to invest into jobs, just to be ignored by customers when it came to paying the invoice.
Having to answer emails and calls when on holiday from customers – just to keep the business back at home running.
Not to mention the time the whole of the UK was told to stay at home, how can an electrician make a living if it’s illegal to even leave the house.
The assessments I had to do in order to be approved by the local authorities, being assessed by an person who was less qualified then me!
There were just to many cons against not quitting, to the pros of quitting and starting something new.
Even though the money as an electrician in the UK is very good, it was everything that comes with it.
The hours are not even 9 to 5, they are more like 6-10, 11hr days.
It stresses me out thinking about it now.
Why Even Work A 9 to 5 Job?
Don’t get me wrong, my 9 to 5 job served it purpose in my life.
- It helped me buy my first house
- Have nice holidays
- Provide for my family
But that was all I ever knew how to do.
I had become combatable in that job as an electrician, combatable but not happy.
Also working hard to build my own electrical business, with learning some very valuable lessons along the way.
I found it hard to quit that job too. As I was trying to move away from working as an electrician, I was trying to price myself out of jobs.
Only for the jobs to be accepted.
So this would pull me back into working as an electrician as the money was good.
My eyes were looking at the money and not the lifestyle.
As soon as that job was over I was looking even harder to become a success online.
My Goal Was To Build An Online Business
That seed I planted in my head never went away, it took me time to figure all this out.
I had to use the 9 to 5 job as a stepping stone to get to where I wanted to be. To create the life I wanted and not just live my life being an electrician.
Have a plan for the future.
There were some failed attempts along the way, I say failures.
They made money, but really replaced the job as an electrician with something else.
Amazon FBA was the best one. I t was fun looking into products to put in my shop.
I also went all out and got thigs delivered from China too.
But again I was very busy and felt I didn’t have a lot of time to myself.
Affiliate Marketing Suited Me
This is where I dived into the affiliate marketing space. The more I found out the more it suited me to a T.
That was my plan. Aim to quit being an electrician by replacing it with affiliate marketing.
I have even met people who don’t even want to quit their 9 to 5 job. They just have an affiliate marketing business as a 2nd income.
Which is a huge benefit for them, as it gives them options.
It also takes the pressure off in the 9 to 5 job.
So when things aren’t going well at work, as a lot of business are struggling at the moment, you have a back up plan.
That back up plan B can easily become plan A.
There is a story of a person who done just that. Used their 9 to 5 to be able to generate over 10 million dollars online.
The story can be read in his book
